Sun Safety

We have amazing outdoor areas at Newburgh School and we believe children should spend as much time outdoors as possible. As part of our commitment to the safety of children at school we committed to becoming a Sun Safe School. To earn this award we:-

• Created a Sun Protection Policy
• Communicated this with parents
• Our Reception Class holds an annual whole school assembly to teach everyone how to stay safe in the sun
• Individual classes are also held to reinforce our sun safety message

When the weather gets warmer we will start to communicate with parents via our Newsletter to remind them to put sun cream on children before the start of the school day. We also ask that children come to school with a sun hat they can wear outdoors. If parents wish they can send named sun cream into school for re-application during the school day.
